Welcome to the Blackboard e-Education platform,—designed to enable educational innovations everywhere by connecting people and technology.
The planned annual summer upgrade of VITAL will take place from 7am on Monday 22nd July. VITAL will be unavailable while new software updates are applied and we anticipate it will not be available again until Thursday 25th July.
In advance of the upgrade, VITAL will also be at risk from 9am on Wednesday 17th July to 7am on Monday 22nd July while preparatory work takes place. 'At risk' means that VITAL could go offline without warning during this time.
VITAL should also be considered at risk for the remainder of the week (until 5pm on Friday 26th July) while a large amount of system maintenance is carried out.
Staff should avoid setting critical online tests, assignment submission deadlines and other important activities in VITAL throughout the period 17th - 26th July 2019.
Students who require access to resources within VITAL during the upgrade should download materials in advance of Monday 22nd July.
Further information about the upgrade, including a summary of new and enhanced features, can be found on our website at http://utils.liv.ac.uk/Vital/faqs.aspx?ID=154

There is a known issue that is ongoing whereby announcement email notifications may be delayed by hours or days after the Announcement is created, and in some cases not sent at all. This is intermittent and affects email notifications for announcements where the "Email Announcement" has not been ticked.
Staff are advised that if they create an announcement in Vital and want to be sure that an email is received immediately by all staff and students on the module then they should select the option to "Email Announcement".
The option ‘Email Announcement’ when selected will send the complete announcement as an email to the University email addresses of everyone enrolled onto the module, even where users have specified not to get notifications of announcements. This email will get sent instantly.
We have been advised that this issue will be resolved in a future version of the Blackboard software.
